That is definitely what I would call a "big squat day!" I kind of want to puke just looking at that.

just got myself up to date

We were close to the same level not so long ago and then you rocketed!

As a result I'd be interested in copying your program (especially since you're getting bigger and you said not putting on too much fat) but you said you don't really have one per se right?

Could you tell me what your approach to training DL is?

I figure we are both male, both eat similar things and there isn't a huge weight difference so what works for you should work for me ... or have i missed something?

spill the secrets! ;)

For real though I'm not getting the big picture of the training philosophy from reading through individuals posts :)

thanks!

As you know there isn't really a program. I ran that Russian squat program earlier in the year which got me used to heavier sets for volume but that was just because I had always held back and never really gone that heavy before.

I don't really know what to tell you - train as heavy as you can and eat a lot - that's all I've been doing differently.

My approach for training DL is to squat heavy around twice a week. I don't seem to gain much on my DL when I'm not squatting PB's. I have a similar stance - fairly narrow - for both so I seem to get good carry-over.

I've been eating very consistently since May. For about six weeks I was nailing 4500cal / 220protein every day, but I think I've gained weight a little bit too fast (I'm now 75-76kg), so I'm back at around 3700-3800 per day.

What you've highlighted is something I already know about myself, that I have a very short attention span ;)

I'm always playing around reading on the internet and working on a spreadsheet for my next training program... I get 1-2 sessions in and then think "fuck this, I should be doing xyz", so then I change it up.

Net result is not much planning when it comes to training. I have a basic over-riding principle: to squat, bench and deadlift regularly, usually once a week at least - and then I tend to base it on how I feel. If my legs are sore, I'll bench, if my upper body is sore, I'll squat or deadlift. Or I might on the fly just throw all plans out the window if a bunch of people at the gym are squatting or doing rack pulls or something.

I'm probably not the best person to be giving out training advice, really

That program is solid, I don't know anyone that has done it that has not had good gains. It is tough but not impossible and as you say gets you used to volume. I don't have short attention span but never walk into the gym thinking I am feeling great, so I need a program to tell me what to do.

WTF? Did you bang your head or something?
