Well, the last discussion had differing opinions, and she has now got the acheivement of youngest lady in the 100 club. Although very impressed with her acheivements I can see both sides, with a slight preference for not putting her on the list as her times are not elite level. I asked the question because I wanted to see what other people thought.

Any other opinions? Right now I'm not putting her on.

i say put her on, better to have different kinds of people and achievements :)

but i know nothing about running though - and could be terribly wrong and there are tons of people who can do what she has done (like sometimes is the case with the celebrated vegan strength or bodybuilding athletes)

Yeah, that was my point in the old thread, and I still think we should keep this list quite strict with elite level achievements. Having said that, I still believe some of the people that are on the list probably is not really on that level, and should perhaps not be there either. :)

Friedrik, I would like to resolve the concerns about the list. I'm unsure about many of them and don't want to decide on my own against the wishes of the rest of the board. Can you PM me your concerns, as this is probly best discussed off board. If anyone else wants to discuss any of them or be involved in the discussion over who we include/leave off, please PM me also.

I prefer some quality over quantity. 100 marathons is pretty big, but all her times are between 4 and 6h. Even overweight, non trained Eddie Izzard completed 43 marathons.

Agree, with fredrikw. 100 marathons is impressive, but you need to take into account that top marathon runners run one in half of the time.

female

male

Ultra running is not as competetive therefore much easier to get a high ranking.

I'm pretty sure that non of the runners in the list can make it to a top 500 marathon rank

Don't think anyone has mentioned this guy before: Swiss pro hockey player Andreas Hänni.

Evidence:http://www.iihf.com/home-of-hockey/news/news-singleview/article/its-easy-being-green.html?tx_ttnews%5BbackPid%5D=955&cHash=53b38d553c

Says in the interview above he's been vegan specifically for ethical reaosns for 13 years! Big dude too, 189cm & 103kg. Now that Georges Laraque has retired he would appear to be the world's only vegan pro hockey player.

The league this guy plays in (Swiss NLA) is arguably the best & richest league in the world after the NHL in North Amercia, so he's very much an elite hockey player.

Henry Akins

Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (under Rickson Gracie  )

I've talked with him through Facebook; he seems like a really nice guy who can speak eloquently on his reasons for adopting a plant-based diets.

Henry Akins and Andreas Hanni added.

If anyone knows any elite sportspeople, please discourage them from going vegan because the list is getting too long.
