I think that many of the locals rescued kids using their own boats. I only saw the name of one published, that was when it first emerged that locals had put their own lives at risk to rescue kids, but it did mention that other locals had helped as well.
Possibly there were other rescuers that never got their names mentioned, but I would have thought that rescuing FORTY kids and making so many repeat journeys, that these 2 people rescued more than most.
I would be absolutely disgusted if media has shied away from given the praise that the couple deserve, purely because they are a lesbian couple.
Somehow, I dont think the kids being rescued would have been interested in anything other that the fact that that they were being rescued. I cant believe the media could be so backward as to take anything else into consideration.
In one way I think that all the rescuers should get some form of public recognition from Norway, but I can see that the rescuers will all still be trying to come to terms with the events of that day, and just wish that they had not had to heroes, because they wish that the event had never took place. Every hero is probably haunted by the thoughts of the ones that they couldnt save.
The bravery of all those locals who took to their boats - well I cant actually think of words to describe such a high level of bravery.
It took just 3 words to make me vegan- Put Calves First

For those who want to carry on the debate, I have started a new thread in the 'ethics' etc section.
Although the effeminate nature of my username may suggest otherwise, my gender actually falls into the male category.
