In this job I couldn't get any more stationary, I barely move from 9 until 5.

(This is the kind of crap joke I've been reduced to by this job.)

It is very geeky and don't really want to give too much away, you will need to buy me a beer for the full detail.
At university I studied HPC (high performance computing), new job will let me use it and get my out of central London.

Baldy that's awesome, congratulations! Keep us posted on how the new job goes... should probably have a VF London meetup in the not-too-distant future to celebrate!

Hmm time flies, I'm still at the same job at the moment. Maybe it's time to quit. The only thing that I love is the hours (14u - 22u). So plenty of time for morning runs.

I really love my job, but I don't love the lack of job security.

That's my issue. I want to do what I do, but I don't like not knowing if I will have a job in a year.
"The worker has the right to leave his boss, but can she do it? And if she does quit him, is it in order to lead a free life; where she will have no master but herself? No, she leaves to sell herself to another employer. She's driven by the same hunger. Thus the worker's liberty is only a theoretical freedom, lacking any means of realization; an utter falsehood."

Looking around my office at the available pot plants that might look good at home.

I figure that this is on topic...

I've got a new job. I'm in Eugene Oregon now, over 4000 km (2500miles) from my last job.
I've got more pay, more job security, but quite a lot more work to do, and a lot more responsibility. This is why I've not been online here as much as before. Just yesterday, I worked 7am to 11pm. This isn't every day, but holy cow, I'm exhausted.

That said, this is a job that I truly love, and I'm glad I do the work I do and I wish I was better (and thus I constantly try to improve), and I would even like to do this work if I didn't need the money/security.

I just wanted to post some good news.

Story about me from my work newsletter
"The worker has the right to leave his boss, but can she do it? And if she does quit him, is it in order to lead a free life; where she will have no master but herself? No, she leaves to sell herself to another employer. She's driven by the same hunger. Thus the worker's liberty is only a theoretical freedom, lacking any means of realization; an utter falsehood."
