There IS a Vegan tyre option!!!

Sure many will remember the recent thread regarding tyres having Stearic Acid in there ingrediants that were derived from non food/animal grade product. Meaning that all tyres were not Vegan.
Well, having traded correspondance with the four major tyre manufacturers. Dunlop/Goodyear, Pirelli, Continental and Michelin.
There is a Vegan option!

Michelin tyres have no animal derived products. The Stearic Acid used in their tyres is derived from Vegetable/food grade product.

Their range includes tyres for Cars, Vans, Motorcycles and Bicycles.
So the Vegan thing to do is to specify Michelin when sourcing new or replacement tyres!
(Getting in touch with Vegan Society to give them the info)

As I use public transport I'm off to purchase a Michelin t-shirt! :D
(But will be badgering First Bus, Stagecoach etc in near future)

Just a thought, is there anything more than this

You can give us? You know, copies of the e-mails if that's how you responded, that sort of thing. Would be a good one for those of us that feel obliged to run a car to keep an eye on this, and there's nothing like official documents to try and force people to their word...

Good work.

Now I wonder about Maxxis or Tryall (the best trials tyres I've used) might have to contact them when next buying tyres.

Hope they don't use any animal ingredients in wetsuits...

It's hardly a 'massive revolution'. I Appreciate the thanks. But hopefully the 'moral' is that ALL people can spend a bit of time to do research.
But it did take a few weeks of chasing up emails and phone calls with the usual of people not responding etc.
Can get a copy of the email from Michelin if people want it.
