Welcome to the Heart of Darkness.
This is, as far as I can tell the plant where Quorn is produced.
https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=54.602717,-1.255866&hl=en&ll=54.6024,-1.254619&spn=0.005363,0.013937&sll=52.8382,-2.327815&sspn=11.465589,28.54248&t=h&z=17
Originaly built by ICI in a FAILED attempt to make pig food, yes, Quorn has its roots in something a pig wouldn't eat, a joint venture with Rank (yes, really, they live up to their name) later produced Quorn as we love to hate it today.

Worth noting that it is located in the heart of the chemical industry for the UK, have a look in the near vicinity for an Ammonia drop tower, a nuclear power plant and an oil rig scrapping yard.
The history of the area is one of sulphur dioxide sunsets (30 or 40 years ago you could count 3-400 flare stacks in the area, it's down to just a few now. Then, the steel works were going hammer and tongs too.) Worth having a quick scout around on google maps if you want to see how the area is recovering (and what is still going on...)

This is adjacent to my hometown. I left as soon as I possibly could. On the bus through this area at a couple of the stops EVERYONE would look sick and often had visible lesions. It was a bit like a zombie movie. (This was Port Clarence, where my father worked...)

Anyhow Quorn are bastardised pig food manufacturers, working out of a polluted bastard shit hole and they are bastards.
It's not what you do occasionally that makes a difference, it's that which you do everyday that brings progress.

Good thinking :) Done from my own account but retweeted it from the VF account, got this reply from Customer Service: "Hi Claire, thank you for contacting us. We will pass on your feedback to the team. Bianca"... who knows if it'll make any difference! Still, better than being outright ignored.

Thx for the headsup.

Not sure how I feel about that! Happy that there is another vegan item to buy but I wish they would get rid of all the non-vegan stuff in the rest of the shelves though!

We can always hope they eventually turn their whole range vegan. And 'vegan' in big letters is good given much of their market isn't even veggie, they could have just sneaked it in small print and let vegan word of mouth do its thing.

Has anyone ever had quorn? What's it like? Probably should go ask a veggie really
