Gay vegans?

Now 'there's' a minority group!

I am - are there any more?

I've heard straight guys say people have assumed they're gay when they said that they're vegan - which I think is really odd, as there really doesn't actually seem to be alot of gay vegans about.

If I remember rightly, someone was asking for advice about his rim. That might be a good place to start.

what about straightedge gay vegans? now that's a proper minority!

(sorry, not gay. i'd hate to have to limit my choice of partners because of gender.)

do female computer programmers who are also vegan, and don't play on computer games, count as a minority as well :D sorry am straight myself , I have met two female computer programmers who were lesbian but they weren't vegan, they were extremely pro-carnivore and ate beef steak :!:

Is is something like 10% of the population are gay? So bound to be plenty of people out there who are both gay and vegan IMO.

I was reading the other day that it is not 10%, that was Kinsey juggling the numbers to show the picture as he wanted, the article said it was somewhere closer to 1.5%.. there are a few gay vegans on VBB.

oh! Am surprised the percentage is so low! Especially considering the large number of famous and highly successful people who are gay, am thinking of famous people in politics and the arts right now, can think of plenty of examples.

Interestingly, of the female vegans I know (probably about 5 or so), at least 3 of them are lesbian or bisexual.
Though I don't think any of the male vegans (also about 5 people) that I know are gay (at least as far as I know).

I know that isn't enough people to conclude anything statistically from (maybe it just says something about the sorts of people I know).
But maybe vegans are more likely to be gay? Both of them being seen to be "alternative" lifestyles?

no that's like saying vegans are more likely to be hippies because hippy is being seen to be an "alternative" lifestyle.

You can be vegan and "conservative with a small c" just like you can be gay and be "conservative with a small c".

I have worked with plenty of gay people who were "conservative with a small c" and the least "alternative" people you can imagine. None of them were camp and none of them were "alternative". One of the guys was basically just the standard grumpy old man / Victor Meldrew, no way was he a hippie or "alternative" style person!!!!!!!

But a former landlord of mine, who is in a hetero marriage by the`way, is as camp as Graham Norton at his rudest!
Figure that one out!

Might just be that vegans go against peer pressure, to be vegan, so they are less lightly to let peer pressure stop them from openly saying they are gay. ('Gay' , sadly is still used a lot in bullying in schools, so I think gay teenagers still have a tough time.)

Rather than gay or straight, I prefer sleeping at night as part of a pack (of dogs)- what does that make me? (nothing kinky!)
