Metabolic Testing

My gym offers some metabolic testing. They do an active one and a resting one. The active one is suppose to determine your ideal fat burning heart rate while doing cardio. The resting one is supposed to determine how many calories your body is using to maintain your weight and how your body is burning those calories (mostly fat or mostly carbs).

My question is: how accurate are these tests? Are they reliable and useful?
Or would you need to do the test multiple times to get accurate, useful data?
