The muscle up thread

Postby baldy » Sat Jan 26, 2013 2:37 pm

This is really starting to bug me, its been a long term goal to nail a muscle up. Did a very questionable one last week with foot dabbing the wall.
As you can see in the video I probably need more space. So close though, any advice?

Lets see some videos of other people having an attempt.

Take it to crossfit.com

I've never even tried to do one but most videos I've seen of them done involve swinging more. So partly space but also timing it more to start pulling at the top of a swing back. You looked like you timed it as halfway through a swing forward

Swinging more for the win. Trick for me is to stand a little way from the bar do a little leap and grab the bar, swing and literally bang my chest on the wall and then explode up.
Did one last night, very happy about that, next need to catch it on video.

I think it's like with pull ups, they can be done strictly or with kipping. If you do a strict muscle up, you
won't be bumping into the wall. Good job to even be trying, it's a crazy heavy exercise! 8)

You're more Crossfit than me now, and I've got a t-shirt AND listen to the WODCast Podcast whilst training.

Just say no to kipping.

Something to aim for, including clothes and music. Also, landing is exceptional.
