Walking at least six miles a week may be one thing people can do to keep their brains from shrinking and fight off dementia, U.S. researchers said on Wednesday.

But you're a youngster! It's probably nothing, stress or...B12??

The OP's link would tie in to recent article in Proceedings of the National Academy of the US about the correlation between the regions of aerobic metabolism in our brains in our 20s and where the tangles of proteins in Alzheimers' develop in later life.

The flipside of the above is that when previously active auldies do go down with dementia it can make for a bigger radius for searching on "granhunt" jobs as they indulge on their previous wanderlusts. Currently something like 90% are found within 1.2 kilometres of the point last seen, which is a blessing because the granhunt often turns into a "gran down" when they either fall over or get even more confused, and it doesn't take long for the hypothermia to get going - and searching all the nooks and crannies that people can get stuck (or actively hide in) in that kind of radius takes a lot of time as it is.
