Tall girl

Postby Starling in a cage » Sun Sep 13, 2009 12:03 am

Teenage Daughter has just started College and is studying Outdoor Education. She needs some jogging bottoms but the real problem is that at almost 6ft tall, and fashion conscious, she's having a great deal of difficulty finding clothes to fit.

Does anyone know of a place, either shop (in, or near near Shropshire) or online, where she can buy joggers for a tall girl, size 10. We've tried loads of local shops but it seems that manufacturers assume that tall = fat.

I always associate jogging bottoms with people who are too fat to wear normal trousers. I guess the manufacturers and retailers do the same.
Would running tights be better or are they a bit too sport specific if she's looking for something more for general wear ?

Sorry!

LOL. No, she's got one of those and calls it a skirt, and she sometimes wears a vest she says is a dress.
Seriously, she does have image problems and the thought of bunched up waist will not help.

Oops, maybe I should have said training trousers or trackies. Jogging bottoms do conjure up visions of baggyness and oversized tops. However, she has just spent two years avoiding PE (preferring to spend every Wednesday in detention) because she refused to wear the school PE uniform. How she got onto a outdoor ed course, I'll never know. It must have been the dress she wore at interview.

She's going to wear shorts and pumps to go walking up a hill next week, but with the weather changing we know that she'll have to invest in some walking trousers from Blacks or similar. It's just making her see sense really.

Shorts and trainers sound like ideal hill walking wear to me. :D

There's a list of online running shops here, which may be useful, including one that specialises in womens stuff.

I hate to suggest it; but some men's running gear is fairly androgynous.

I sympathize, my girlfriend is rail-thin and has a tough time finding clothes... so she has to shop here and there in the kid's section...

Try Sweaty Betty- not sure how baggy they need to be but these may fit the bill- they come on long length to suit taller women

Here are some more- many come in long:

Pricey but great quality.
