[quote="Jukka"][quote="skoptic"]Great that another professional sportsperson has gone vegan .. but I must admit those youtube clips just confuse me....

Like others are saying above it looks like the fighting is now an expected and semi sanctioned part of the show .. like a contrived effort to bait the crowd. I'm not saying it's bad .. I just found it a bit weird having not seen any IH for a long time.

Back in the 80's and the 90's there was a lot of more fighting going on than these days.

I will never forget the first Maple Leafs game I went to - we were late getting in and the game had started, and as soon as we got into the arena a brawl broke out with all the players on the ice fighting! It was fan-tastic.

Although it didn't have something that the wiki article gets into - when the goalies square off against each other then you've got a classic brawl! usually they just stand in the nets and watch.

But yeah, nothing new, fighting is as much a part of the game as the ice is!

Laraque just got a five game suspension for tackling with the knee. Niklas Kronwall got run over. Laraque is also going to lose his salary for the time being suspended, 38 000 dollars.

Here is the video about the incident.

Five games is only like two weeks in NHL I think?

season's third fight http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h6kVZ9XD7U8

maybe a slight edge to Laraque, cause he gets in more punches.

Laraque will not be playing for Montreal for the rest of the season and will be bought out at the end of the season: http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=307080

Basically he is a fighter and not many other players will engage with him so it devalues his 'worth' to the team. The new head coach this season just doesn't like him and what he brings to the team. Hopefully he goes to a better team next season.
Are you doing enough to be the best?

Laraque will now spend his energy helping his haitian family and Haiti in general.

BGL, World Vision and NHL-players are funding construction of a new hospital to Haiti.

You can find more information at http://www.worldvision.ca/give-a-gift/P ... haiti.aspx

and at Laraque's own site http://www.georgeslaraque.com/

He says he's going to play for free if necessary.
