Of course !

Seems like a great guy !
I eat to nourish my compassion, not my greed

I'm the man they couldn't kill ! I cannot be destroyed with conventional weapons !

And probably the former fastest British Vegan 10, 25 and 50 mile TT rider. Probably.

Nice to hear that BGL is answering to you guys.

"At the end of the day, who cares how many Stanley Cups I have won or how many fights I’ve been in where I have won. I think as a human being you are more respected for what you have done to try to make this world better! " -Georges Laraque

Now I'll just be waiting to get the first vegan or vegetarian to play in the Finnish hockeyleague.

I e-mailed him and got a nice reply. He is a really cool guy :)

Laraque's first hockeyfight as a vegan.

At 0.45 you can see how they start the brawl.

Result is a draw or a slight edge for Laraque.

Hey, you didn't do that kind of fighting in Hockey before right? It looks a lot like a show.

Not really. It's the punches and the effect they have that counts.

Stats after 4 games season 2009-2010

GP: 4

A: 1
PIM: 5
+/- : -2
TOI/G: 7:38

So pretty much how it was expected to go.

Great that another professional sportsperson has gone vegan .. but I must admit those youtube clips just confuse me....

Like others are saying above it looks like the fighting is now an expected and semi sanctioned part of the show .. like a contrived effort to bait the crowd. I'm not saying it's bad .. I just found it a bit weird having not seen any IH for a long time.

Back in the 80's and the 90's there was a lot of more fighting going on than these days.

Anyway, a pretty good piece of information about hockeyfights can be read here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fighting_in_ice_hockey
