Personal trainer courses

Postby mouche » Fri May 15, 2009 3:05 pm

Wasn't sure if it was the right part of the forum to post this in, just yell at me if not

Anyways I have a year left of my history degree to get through, but after that my current plans are to enrol in some sort of course to become a personal trainer. Ideally I'd be doing this in Australia, preferably in Sydney.

I've been looking at various institutions and courses on the internet, but I have no idea what to be looking out for - it's not like applying to uni where you already know the main institution names that will get you a worthy-looking degree. But in the fitness world new names are sprouting up in every direction and I'm getting a little lost.

So I was just wondering if there were any personal trainers on here who could give me some indication of what I should be taking into consideration when choosing a course - for example, if some institutions or types of institutions are better than others, or if certain course structures are better than others, and so on.

Cheers guys, hope somebody can point me in the right direction!

hope you got some answers already, because this is a bit old topic.

think you can do modules and see how much you like courses.

don't know about full programs.

hope some other people can help you more.

I'm a personal trainer. The certs that are held in high regards will vary according to your location, from here it's as little as state to state. Your best bet is to go into or contact your local gyms and find out which certs their personal trainers hold.

Good Luck!

There are a lot of personal trainers in sydney, Vision PT is everywhere: http://www.visionpt.com.au/

I think you need cert IV which should be internationally recognized.
