Preparing for a long distance walk!

Postby vegano » Sat Feb 21, 2009 1:41 am

I need all the information you have to prepare myself for a one month (more or less) walk. I am going to do this with two friends in September, and we need to get in shape now! :)

We are starting to do 10 km walks a few days per week, but we also have to prepare our neck and back muscles, what do you think it's best? We are thinking about increasing our walking distance and start swimming...

Is anyone familiar with this kind of experience?

 thank you!

oh boy where are you walking????
i dont really have any tips cos im just a casual walker, but ive done lots of it, carrying everything aswell, tent, cooker, food and water supplies for myself and my dog.I was always fit prior to my walks cos im a habitual runner, so i never did any sort of fitness prep.
What sort of weight are you going to be carrying, what terrain are you walking what sort of sports do you already do?

Two quick questions first, what kind of ground will you be covering, and how much will you be carrying?
