What do you mean, where are the bulkers ? Half the guys on the 2000m table weigh 100kg. :P

I just put my age and weight in that handicapping table and my 7.40 got changed to 7.55. :(

I think we should stick with the current system.

I did a sponsored 2000 metre row at the gym this morning for charity.

I wasn't going to do it as I've had some niggly health problems lately and been forced to take a rest :? .

Anyway, my arm was twisted and I did it in 10 minutes 3 seconds, which sounds a bit pathetically slow compared to you guys but I am reasonably pleased with it for now  .

Last weekend's online rowing competition made me do 1,52 on the 500 for the first round, then I totally lost it for the second round, so Hammarby beat us with 18,2 seconds in the end :( Anyways, I now have an "official" 500-meter result to post here. :)
there is always time for rowing

After today's monster pulling session I'm game for this, how do I apply? Find a rowing machine that has a computer? BTW, how good of a purchase is a domestic rowing machine - already gave away the stationery bicycle. :)
Next time, I'll spend the money on drugs instead.

Good idea man, it's a really good exercise. Nowhere to hide on the rowing machine. Can't just ponce about doing topless medicine ball throws and claim it was awesome when the ergometer reading bluntly states you didn't work as hard as you did the week before.

Yeah find a rowing machine that has a computer. The Concept 2 is the standard, the one you'll find in most gyms over here and used by most clubs. For the purposes of this table anything will do though.

I wouldn't purchase a domestic one, they're not a cost effective option. Cheap ones tend to suck. But then I'd encourage everyone to train at a gym in general, hard to spread the vegan fitness message if no one ever leaves the house :D

Thought I would revive this thread !

Well, I have done no rowing for over a year, and no cycling for over ten weeks, apart from the odd gentle spin. So I am VERY unfit indeed.

Thought I would have a bash at the rowing machine, as its safer in the house, and 'you know who' can't try to kill me again !

Bit of a warm up, then had a go at 500m. Seemed the easiest option.
Recorded;

1.42

So not too bad really. Residue core strength, I guess. Was breathing like an old man on woodbines !

Give me a few weeks, and I will hopefully be faster. Fastest was 1.35, for the first 100m. But can't imagine ever going faster than that, even when fit. I am just a little guy !

Updated.

500m is probably the least painful, but I'd have thought a time trialer would have been attracted to the lactic burn of the 2k

Yes, I certainly should be, or even 5000m.

But I am so unfit at the moment, I would struggle to last 2000m. Of if I did, it wouldn't be under 7.30. So I am stickkng with the easy distances for now !

5000m in 20.10

Was taking it pretty steady. Didn't mean to actually row that far, but it just happened. Should have tried harder !

And don't forget the 1.39 !

I know......don't tell anyone !

Just ticking over with a bit of rowing, while I am not cycling much. Don't want to get too fat !

Maybe just track, or even, dare I say, mountain bike next year !
