the perfect fat busting gym routine?

Postby cherry.chops » Fri Jan 16, 2009 2:35 pm

sorry if this has been asked before

what is the perfect fat busting gym routine?

i do cardio and weights about 4-5 times a week and i also do classes to spruce things up.

I dont want to loose loads of weight, i just have some belly and bum fat thats just hanging around, while the rest of me is perfectly toned.

I feel your pain brother! I run loads, climb loads & eat what I consider to be a healthy, varied vegan diet, but I still have this little belly below a nice 4 pact that refuses to develop into a 6pack! I know this is of no use, but just thought I would let you know your not alone.

it all boils down to calorie balance in the end of the day - give or take some wee details.

if you are almost there, you dont have to change anything drastically. Could there be some calories you could cut out? Maybe some junk stuff, or slightly smaller portion sizes on one or two meals?

This is of course assuming that your diet is good anyway - sometimes if the calorie intake is too low, body refuses to shed the fat and rather tries to get rid of metabolically more active muscle mass.

The two things that have made a real difference to me.

1. Ross Enamait style "Conditioning".

2. Intermittent Fasting

the fasting thing looks unusual.

fasting for a day followed by 5 hours of 'unrestricted eating' ..... that last part sounds crazy.

The idea is that the fast puts you into ketosis, and you burn fat. As I see it, the thing is to try to eat most of the good stuff you would normally eat during the day in the 5 hour window, although some treats won't do any harm :D .
The Warrior Diet is a similar idea, although Hofmekler doesn't recommend total fasting or eat-anything. It's under- and over-eating. I'm trying a version of this at the moment, eating a breakfast of nuts and seeds. I want to read his book at some point.
