You have to do it a lot and try to do different things so its always a challenge to skip.

Any examples?

Things that I do to mix it up while skipping:

- cross-overs (arms)
- skipping with arms crossed
- doubles
- skipping low (arms straight out to the sides)
- one-legged
- and one footwork sequence that involves two one-legged skips on each side followed by 4 alternating (marching?) skips

Other than that, it's both feet together for simple skipping.

High kicking is good, and backwards.

New record for me 470 in 3 minutes and 96 in 30 sec.

I watched the BRSA website, and there has to be some kind of mistake. I have to have someone also counting for me the next time, otherwise I would almost be elite.

There's a bit of a problem with the tables not displaying properly at the moment, Hoffmeister. Do you mind if I wait until it is sorted before I add you to the list ?
I think there is something wrong with those BRSA results as well.
I'm not that far off the British record for 3 minutes myself and yet, when I watch videos of other people skipping, some of them look like they're going twice as fast as I do.

Broke 400 today - got up to 411. Skipping is great for cardio breaks during my workout (much better than that stationary bike).

Big Good Wolf, your 10 minutes is very impressive. It looks like you managed to maintain your pace throughout - you must have quite the endurance.
I'll tackle it myself once I feel confident that 10 minutes of skipping won't lay me up for a few days.

My arms are holding me back  Still jumping twice for every spin of the rope- I'll keep working on it. I think a chronic lack of coordination could well be a factor :D

 I am not usually uncoordinated but skipping is one of those things I have always hated for the simple reason that I am rubbish at it

Its all a matter of practising, you'll get the hang of it when you start doing it every day...

Maybe number of double jumps in a row can be a thing here also.

Yes, practice. When I started skipping, I was pretty bad at it. Now I'm half decent. It's great being able to look back and see the improvement.

I tried the 30-second test today. Got 30 double-skips in a row before crapping out, and finishing with singles. I'm pretty sure, though, that I've never done that many doubles before.

So, 79 skips for my first 30-second attempt. I expect to exceed that soon ;)

Wow, that's impressive.
I wonder if I could keep accurate count for that long...

Can anyone here do triples? I tried the other day, and couldn't quite make it. I'm determined to do it, though.

Thanks, I had to focus a lot, and I told the kids in the gym not to disturb me while doing it.

I read aboout someone doing tripples, but I havn't really tried. I think its very difficult...

Maybe another contest could be number of doubles in a row.

I fully support that. I plan to make it part of my regular goal-setting anyway :)
