I don't think all the parts were that stupid though, some I guess were progressions and some plain bad technique that crossfit as a whole can't be responsible for.

I live by one of those crossfit places and they really do all that ridiculous nonsense, even wearing a gas mask. Lots of people locally limping around with the crossfit T-shirt and arm sling, knee brace, crutches...

I don't think the solar plexus hitting part is a fail, training that definitely helps taking a body shot.

Don't encourage them! They are a bunch of idiots and deserve to be laughed at :P

Seriously though, they wear masks like those because they are pretending to be "elite athletes." The link you posted even says those masks are for training like an elite athlete, they know their market. Crossfit people can't be elite athlete's because they don't train to get better at anything, they train to get more at everything.

Like most cults, parts of it might make sense om their own, but you have to look at the whole picture to realize what's really going on.
