Lower Body Lifts w/ Hand Weights?

Postby Jinga » Tue Apr 20, 2004 9:48 pm

Does anyone know of any good sites that show good lower body lifts you can do with hand weights? The gym at my apartment complex only has a few lower body machines, but they have tons of hand weights available. Any advice?

One good lift I know of is doing lunges with free weights in your hands. Also, I hear you can do squats, deadlifts, and SLDL with free weights, but I'm not sure how. I don't know any good websites, but I'm sure others do! :)

I do love walking weighted lunges. My booty feels that burn! The other things I have in mind are lunge variations and toe raises. I am hoping someone knows of something completely new to me, so I can add to the workout moves already in my brain. :)

If the dumbbells you have are heavy enough, you could try dumbbell deadlifts of dumbbell stiff-leg deadlifts. The dumbbell deadlifts would actually work more effectively as a leg exercise than traditional deadlifts, since you could hold the dumbbells at your side rather than having the barbell out in front of you.

Just like these, only with dumbbells instead of barbells.
