Twinge in neck with bicep curls...

I've been getting a weird nerve twinge in the back of my neck on the left side to the left of my spine when doing bicep curls, even after a few reps with medium resistance.

I don't mind a bit of pain but the sensation kind of tells me to stop what I'm doing.

Any idea what it could be and how to prevent it etc? It only seems to happen with bicep curls and none of the bodyweight stuff I do.

I think it's bad posture/form and too much weight. Keep your back straight, look forward not down at your arms :P , and keep your chest up and shoulders slightly back. Lower the weight, and use PERFECT form always.

warm up the area more, probably tight to start with, stretches, deep heat, mobility etc etc etc

Hard to say without a video.

Most likely you are lifting too heavy and as a result, are using your back/swinging the bar to help get the reps.

But of course, we are not doctors - so if you are genuinely concerned, ignore us and get it checked out properly.

Sounds like a trip to a chiropractor is in order. If you can't, get yourself one of those foam rollers and "slowly" move your spine of over it. You'll hear a few cracks but that's okay. You third choice is to get a massage, but a chiropractor is still your best bet. Even if you don't have insurance, most of them have some kind of payment plan. Remember, you can't put a price on your health.

Good luck.

speaking for myself, I'd recommend against a chiropractor.

Just go see a physio if the problem has persisted for more than a week.

Physio will cost you literally about a tenth of the cost of a chiro (who will try to convince you you need to see them for the rest of your natural life).
