Issues building arms

Postby Garou » Tue Sep 15, 2009 7:28 pm

Hi all,

I was just wondering if anyone has had the same problem as I am having, and have always suffered from?

My problem is that I cannot increase the size of my arms. I have no issues putting on mass anywhere else on my body. As a matter of fact, I put mass on pretty easily, except for my arms. When I say arms, I mean biceps, triceps, forearms and shoulders to a lesser extent.

I've hit them every which way I can. I've gone low rep, high rep, varied the amount of sets, isolated them and exercised them in compound movements. Normally I give them 3 days to recover, but I've gone as low as 1 day, and even given them a week.

This is not a new problem, it is something I noticed when I started pumping iron back in college.

Has anyone ever "suffered" from the same problem and was able to overcome it? Any suggestions would be welcome.

I've got puny arms, but couldn't care less as long as I can PL properly.

Stick some tattoos on it and you'll like them so much more instantly!
Next time, I'll spend the money on drugs instead.

i have pretty small arms, but thats ok - i curl maybe two sets a month :D

But what have grown my arms over the years have been going heavy in compound movements which involve arms, such as rows or narrow grip bench press.

But looking at guys in normal gyms who have oversized arms, the direct isolation work must work as well :D

providing you're progressing in deadlifts, rows and chin ups, then I'd recommend a separate arm day focussing on ez bar reverse curls, close grip bench, high rep pushdowns, and lots of cable and machine isolation work - it's lame as shit but the evidence is all around any decent gym.

I think oversized is the keyword here - for oversized arms, direct work is probably necesary, for proportional arms probably not :D .
