Turkish get-up

Postby Pete » Fri Jan 23, 2004 12:01 pm

Are there any sites that show the Turkish get up (it may well be known by other names). Basically, you start out like you are at full lockout on a floor press & end up like you are at full lockout during a military press (from lying , to standing). All the time from one to the other the arms stay vertical. A step by step pic guide would be excellent, but any details would be good. Also, I'd be interested in any of the otherold moves, that aren't practiced much today.

from what i've read on the turkish get up you can get from floor press to military press by any means necessary, so long as you maintain vertical lockout the whole way through.

what's worked for me before is getting on my side, then pushing with free hand to a kneeling position then lunging up. hope this was some help.

ps. just did a search on turksih getups and kettlebells and found mike mahler demonstrating a couple different ways to do em...

Coincidentally, I just saw one of these (instructions and photo sequence) in either Men's Fitness or Muscle & Fitness magazine the other day. I don't know if they have those where you are.

Couldn't find the issue you were refering to :( Something I fancied trying at some point, rather than now, so no worries (if anyone spots any details at any time then let me know)
