I am 6'6" (well, really 6' 5 and 3/4"), and my bmi is 22.2 according to this site:

http://nhlbisupport.com/bmi/bmicalc.htm

That has metric and american measurements. Never had heard of BMI until funfetus mentioned it, just looked it up online. Seems alot better than those height/weight tables that can very so much

I am 23.5 normal weight I don't see how those things can be accurate they don't even do anything to figure in muscle weight. If you are 20 pounds above their target weight and it is muscle weight then you are not overweight the way someone who weighed the same thing but didn't workout would be.

Scales for ideal weight

Postby VeganEssentials » Sat Aug 07, 2004 12:59 am

I come in under the "morbidly obese category" and apparently am completely unfit by most charts :D

Best part is, I had to exaggerate on my insurance forms to estimate my weight far below what it truly is just so I didn't have to pay a much higher rate due to this. Great how these things work, huh?

Pssht, yeah right! Let's see YOUR pic!

But no, I'm actually not overweight by the traditional definition at all. My post was poking fun at the ineffectiveness of the BMI scale when dealing with people who have greather-than-average muscle-mass. You know, like how Tom Cruise and Mel Gibson are "obese" on that scale.

I will have my WIP update in a few months, though, probably. I think my 6 months is almost up, but I'm gonna give myself some extra time, since I had a back injury that set me way back.

The BMI is such BS. I am 187 lbs and 6'1" my BMI is 24.7. I am at the top edge of normal. I am curious what my bf% is, I bet the two different measures would suggest completely different things.

That gave me a body fat percentage of 16%, 30 lbs of my 192 lbs fat? no way. It doesn't take into account my size 34 waist goes with my six and a half feet height.

You should be carrying around about 25-30 pounds of fat. I believe that women need at least 18% bodyfat or else we start to have to physical problems like lack of menestration. Now men can get away with quite a bit less percent bodyfat than women but I have to believe that 18% bodyfat would look pretty much the same on a man as on a woman. So your 16% is really low.
