Off to Orkney in a few weeks... It's obviously all about the walking (not expecting much of anything else!) and will be bringing mountains of food but was wondering if anyone had been and would recommend anywhere in particular to wander/stay/eat etc?
Very excited

How did it go? I went to Shetland a few years and it was fantastic and easy to get food for self catering and not any worse than many places in the UK for eating out. Would like to go to the Orkney Isles also at some point too.

Hey, sorry for this very late (and quite unhelpful) reply.
Yeah, it was basically all about the self-catering. We were there off-season so any cafes etc were closed. But it's not really the sort of place you want to be in town anyway.
There were no trees...!

LOL! Only been to Shetland and yeah no trees

Everyone walks bent over trying to plough through the wind

Lots of archaeological sites I hear and a place I would like to visit.
