Some parts of the Spanish State are vegan friendly. I've never had any problems getting good vegan food in Barcelona. I even found vegan polony and cheezly in a small chinese supermarket... There are also at least 4 Maoz outlets and a good vegan restaurant in the city centre.

Barcelona is more alternative, but sure Madrid will have plenty of health food shops. My Spanish friend tells me vegetarianism is on a big increase in Spain.

we're moving to the spanish basque country (donosti) in summer, all being well, so will also be looking for digs/cycling club/work., etc. keep us posted on how it's going, runner. any particular reason you're moving to madrid?

being vegan in spain these days reminds me of what it was like to be vegan in rural england, circa 1992 :D

yeah id have to ask why madrid, it was my least favourite spanish city,.
I also found the health food stores to be hugely expensive, but other than that i loved spain and the spanish!

Runner - we are going late aug/early sept. Hopefully we'll get language teaching jobs and the agency will take care of the NI etc, but i think we're gonna go whether we get jobs or not :-)
I trust you're settling in well, what are you doing over there? Work, travelling, ?
