Really good V-friendly pub in harborne, Birmingham

The Junction (situated, fittingly, on the junction between Waitrose [ex-Somerfield] and harborne library) has an awesome vegan friendly menu.

Out of the three 'sharer' platters, two of them were vegetarian, and one of the two was vegan. The other could probably be veganized if you asked nicely.

Out of about five starters/nibbles, three were vegetarian if I remember correctly, and I'm sure at least two of the three were also vegan.

The main courses were less impressive - out of about eight mains, one was veggie (perhaps it was vegan, I don't remember well, but if it wasn't vegan it could easily be veganized)

The desserts were all cakes, so unfortunately not vegan.

It's really shocking to go into a pub and see so much vegan food on a menu, it really was a great surprise. Even if it was just vegetarian and not vegan, it would still be bloody impressive - how many pubs can you think of in Birmingham that have more than one vegetarian option for each menu category? That the veggie options outnumbered the non veggie options on the starter / sharer menus was confusing but pleasantly surprising.

I had tortilla chips with hummous and tzatzki (didnt eat the tzatzki, its creamy) which I expected to be dorito-style things heated in a microwave, but no, they were massive, and were kind of like crispy samosas but without the filling.

The kitchen is not in its own enclosure, it is open, and situated next to the doors at the back garden end of the pub, and I didn't notice a microwave anywhere (not that I was looking for one... there might be one that I just didn't notice).

The pub has a really nice outdoor section, very colourful and nice. Shame I didn't take a picture. Maybe I will soon, and upload it. I'll take a menu too so I can tell you what's on it (my memory's a bit shaky... too much beer).

It's a bit expensive but that's what you expect in harborne, it's full of rich ****s innit.

I know where that is, dont go to Harborne other than driving thru on way to family in Brum, as im Stourbridge way.

Worth knowing about as yes most pubs have set menus and are not very vegan aware of friendly.

One by me is doing a bbq weekly and has said the burgers are vegan and he can do veggie kebabs (one big problem is only one bbq) so wont be going there for food!

Another pub a chain one is finding out if their veggie menu contains dairy, the chick pea masalla, Butternut squash Risotto and Indian share board - samosas, pakoras, curry etc... sounds interesting but until i see the ingredients list i wont have anything

Prob butter/whey powder/dairy somewhere in it :(
