I can't get enough of it! But was just wondering - how does everyone else like to construct their nori rolls? At the moment mine tend to consist of the following:

Nori sheets - 2 number (So they dont fall apart!)

Short grain brown rice

Any or all of the following veggies: carrot/mooli/cucumber/brocolli (cooked first)/pepper strips/finely chopped ginger root

Any of the following protein type foods: Fried tofu/silken tofu/nutolene/redwoods lincolnshire style sausage strips/seitan

Plum sauce

Tamari Sauce

Wasabi (if I have any about)

Lovely :D :D :D :D

Mmmm... I love making sushi! If only nori wasn't so expensive, I'd have it more often... but here's my favorite combo: short grain brown rice, rice vinegar with a bit of molasses, sliced carrot, sliced cucumber, sliced red pepper, marinated thai tofu, avacado, with a soysauce/wasabi dip.

First off, sushi without wasabi is like bread without jam, cake without frosting, rain without rainbows...I make sushi only as an excuse to mix wasabi and tamari together into a dip!

Asparagus is nice (try white asparagus!), avocado of course, try some fruits, like thin sliced strawberry or kiwi, in the rolls or placed on top of each roll! Amazing contrast of sweet and savory...good, good, good...

I was at a vegan potluck recently (no one else there was vegan, but they all cater to my taste, isn't that nice :D ?) and sushi was on the menu. Someone forgot that it was supposed to be vegan and was about to put some cream cheese in one roll...I interceded and suggested some avacado-jalapeno hummus instead, as they're just about the same texture. It was fairly divine.

(Also, put some finely chopped ginger in the tamari/wasabi, mmm, delectable!)

I have to agree - a nori roll without wasabi is an inferior nori roll :D

Great ideas - I will try strawberries and aspargus soon :D
