Earth Crisis Reunion

Postby billyoffspring » Tue Oct 17, 2006 2:34 pm

I just heard about this the other day, but apparently Earth Crisis is doing a reunion show (and possible a tour). They are playing at least one show (in Baltimore, MD). Go to www.sonarbaltimore.com for more info (scroll to bottom). Show is Jan 27th.

Tickets go on sale tomorrow (10/18) at 10AM EST on www.sonarbaltimore.com

Holy shit  Hope they come over to the UK; unlikely though I guess. I saw them once in 1999; probably the most fun I've ever had with my clothes on!

Nice signature by the way Billy, Waste is a top tune.

I saw Earth Crisis play twice in Philadelphia in 1997. Their van or whatever broke down and they were late for the March show and came back to play Philly again in July. I love Fire Storm and Destroy the Machines. I think EC has an EP called All out War. Gomorrah's Season Ends was a weak attempt at making a metal record. Do they have any other good albums or EP's?

Yeah their first ep was All Out War - weak production but classic killer tunes like 'No Allegiance'.

I thought GSE was quite patchy & long-winded, though I really like the title track.

After that came Breed The Killers (not great, but contained a brilliant version of old track 'Ecocide') then Slither (less said about that the better!) & finally 1991-2001 (basically just a Victory Records cash-in, though the accompanying DVD is worth seeing). They also did a live album in 1998 called The Oath That Keeps Me Free that i really like & still listen to a lot.

saw them in sweden back in the days on their destroy the machines tour - awesome, one of the best gigs i have ever been to.

if they tour UK i'd definitely go 8)

funny how the opinions split about ECs work - i dont like BTK and GSE, but love the older stuff and think that Slither is a great piece of work!

Wow, great news! I hope they come to the UK.

I never got to see them live - I remember they played in Newcastle in June 1999 with Canvas and Thirty Seconds Until Armaggedon (anyone remember those bands?) when I lived near there but I couldn't make it. Gutted.

All out war, Firestorm, Destroy the Machines and Gomorrahs Season Ends are all absolute classics for me.
Didn't like Breed the killers as much (the vocals didn't seem to sit well with the music) and Slither was a bit too "nu metal" sounding for me.
Love the Cream cover from The Oath That Keeps me free. They did an album called Last of The Sane which has loads of cheesy covers (Slayer, Rolling Stones etc) and old compilation songs like The Order That Shall Be (best EC song ever?). They also have a greatest hits type album and they did a 3 way live album on Victory with Strife and Snapcase. I have a demo they did from 1993 - it has a couple of songs they never released and a Taxi Driver sample before Firestorm.

Thanks. I love Good Riddance. My quote on the other message board I'm on is from Propagandhi. So, nice quote for you too!

I'd suggest getting your hands on Forever True...a compilation of their best stuff over the 10 years they were running. It's an excellent Best Of CD. Highly recommended.

I hope they do a worldwide tour...there's definitely the demand out there. I've never seen them so I'm really excited.

This was the tour I saw, although only Canvas supported them at the Birmingham show. Canvas were into their bizarre experimental stage by then & pretty weird; their first album was sweet though.

My old band played with TSUA, they were an amazing band. Shame they never got around to releasing any of the later stuff they did before breaking up.

I didn't like the Canvas second album either, found it very hard to listen to. It seemed like they were trying a bit too hard to be weird.

TSUA were great, I must have seen them over ten times. I have good memories of them playing with bands like Bane, Buried Alive, Converge and Good Clean Fun in small pubs in Newcastle.

What band were you in xJimx?

I played in a band called Silent Season, known originally as All Is Lost. The singer and bass player (who wrote all the lyrics) were vegan too so we had some pretty cool AR-themed tunes. The guy I replaced, Dave, actually went on to play with TSUA I think.

I remember hearing about Silent Season. I always wanted to check out but never got round to it. The singer was Heath right (?), who sang in Stampin' Ground on their first few releases when they less thrashy and had AR themed songs.

I remember daveo as well. He did join TSUA after Karl left to join Born from pain.

Yeah Heath was the singer. Basically he got the boot from SG because he was too outspoken about AR/veganism whilst on stage - some of the band weren't even vegetarian so weren't comfortable with it.

I know he sold out on straightedge whilst we were still together & I think he's since dropped veganism :( Those who shout the loudest fall the hardest.
