quite interesting.
it seems to me that "carnism" is a similar concept to that of "moral schizophrenia" presented by gary francione. francione and joy also seem to have a similar perspective when it comes to non-violent activism, not wasting time with people that don't care about animals at all, and other topics. one point where they seem to diverge is the way they tackle the "happy meat" tactic adopted by agribusiness companies. joy, accordingly to the interview, sees at least a positive aspect in it when she says it's a sign people's consciousness is affected by the topic of animals' suffering; francione only sees negative aspects because he thinks "happy meat" schemes only quieten down people's consciousness and let them continue eat or use animal products without worrying too much.
but i might be wrong because i don't know joy's whole theory.
