Went to the Persistance tour in London last Thursday.
Sick of it all
H2O
terror
Heaven Shall Burn
Born from Pain
Discipline
War of Ages

Every single band put on a good show and best were Sick of it all and terror. I was really dissapointed with heaven shall burn, whom I had really high hopes for. No one in the crowd seemed to give a fuck and their stage antics were a bit weird.

the crazyest vegan wrote:the venga boy's and goldie lookin chain played at my end of year ball at aberystwyth, they were terrable apart from the lol factor of the welsh rapers :P

That sounds like my worst nightmare, if that ever pops up in one of my dreams i'm going to hunt you down!!!

Oh and I went to see Lykke Li recently, she was playing in Stockholm, Sweden, really cool - like updated retroness, solid melodies and lots of energy. The crowd (is this always how Swedish crowds are?) was kind of subdued. When it was announced that the band was going to be coming on people gave quite nods of approval...in Edinburgh people would have been gyrating like frozen monkeys trying to warm themselves up so that they could dance like a gibbon.

The gig it's self was really good, songs were slightly modified for live performance, so lots of build up and musical ka-boom!

i saw seu jorge - a really inspiring brasilian from rio - and his band who were made up of young musicians from the street. it was the last night of their tour so carnivale was in full swing they played a 30min encore jam which made me salivate like only chickpea curry has previously done.

macka b has been announced for the brighton vegan fayre march 09 which will be quality, the guy is apparently vegan and has written a song called 'what me eat'...awesome, wonder if he likes abit a chickpea curry himself...

James @ Brixton Academy, last night:

It was everything I'd hoped it would be, and more. Top stuff.

The Soundtrack of Our Lives (at Tavastia, Helsinki, on Monday)

It was a brilliant gig, one of the best I've seen for a long time. It was just a one-off gig they did before tours next year and they really seemed to enjoy being on a stage again. TSOOL played over two hours, plenty of songs from all of their albums.

Went to the London show to see Heaven Shall Burn and Born From Pain and missed both bands  We were on the guest list so we walked in, the singer from HSB said 'Thanks London and Goodnight' and we walked straight back out again!

My last gig was a couple of weeks ago where I saw:

Parkway Drive
Despised Icon
Whitechapel
Carnifex
Architects
Protest The Hero

Fucking immense.
Please check out my blog, and my latest ramblings on milk, soap and glory and animal testing, Thanks!

Went to see the Check the rhyme tour yesterday. the Alkaholics, Jeru the Damaja, Paris Beatnuts and Lords of the underground.

I generally don't like hip-hop live (with a few exceptions) and this was much the same. But it was still great to see all the acts.

Unfortunately, the cold that have lingered for a couple of weeks took the chance and attacked me when I looked away so I am stuck in the sofa with tea and a laptop.

Went to a benefit gig on Saturday in Bristol and saw
Spectra Hawk,
Jesus of Spazzareth,
Jesus Bruiser,
Constant State of Terror,
Victims,
Visions of War

Moslty there for victims who were really good even if they got pissed off with everyone falling onto the stage and pushing over the mic stand

then Sunday went to Deathfest in Leeds, to name a few
ingested
Desecration
Infected Disarray
The Rotted
Benediction
Reth
Akercocke
Origin
Lazarus Blackstar
REPULSION
Leng Tch'e
Vader

Really good festival, even though I didn't really sleep for two nights and am pretty dead now. Also think I'm going to need listen to a bit of softer stuff without blast beats for a few days

The London Symphonic Orchestra in Belgrade.

Need I say more? Rachmaninof's Symphonic Dances + Prokofiev's Symphony #5. Encore was the apocalyptic "Montagues and Capulets" from (again) Prokofiev's Romeo + Juliet.

---

The Harp Quartet in my hometown.

Never heard a harp quartet before. It was interesting. Tchaikovskiy's Nutcracker is always a smash hit. Sounded marvelous on the harphs.
Next time, I'll spend the money on drugs instead.

yeah! that was the last show i went to. after that i'm full up for awhile... did you go?

cro-mags just played here, and stupidly i was afraid to spend the 15 bucks and have them play too much newer stuff or be dissapointed because they're geezers now. you never know. 15 is steep but they played nothing but age of quarrel stuff apparently. i will be kicking myself for awhile.
