What it means to be British...

Postby JP » Wed Jan 18, 2006 8:35 pm

One of the British national daily newspapers is asking readers "what it
means to be British?". Some of the emails are hilarious but this is one
from a chap in Switzerland ...

"Being British is about driving in a German car to an Irish pub for a
Belgian beer, then travelling home, grabbing an Indian curry or a
Turkish
kebab on the way, to sit on Swedish furniture and watch American shows
on a
Japanese TV. And the most British thing of all?
Suspicion of anything foreign

So, the question posed was, what does it mean to be British?

It means to come from the British Isles as far as I knew. :?

The guy who wrote that had a good point, if only in good humour. Anything pretaining to 'British' culture is pretty much gone from our daily lives. As maybe it should be, as our circumstances are so international in every field.
