This thread is one of so many reasons I love VF.

marvellous!!! perfect balance between amusement and emotions. 60 minutes into the movie there's a line which made me cry-laugh for 5 minutes (i had to pause the thing); the overall atmosphere reaches its peak at the end, where it is (almost) impossible not to cry for other reasons. and, after all, tchaikovsky is tchaikovsky.

Very confronting and intense film about one of Australia's worst serial killers. It focus's a lot on the relationships rather than just the brutality.

Documentary about the ruthless machine that is coal seam gas drilling. A very interesting and well shot film that is United states based, as soon as I finished watching it I had a look to see if any drilling is happening in australia and sure enough all through victoria and more specifically enormous amounts of land all throughout Gippsland where I grew up has just been given the go ahead too large indonesian mining companies to drill away. In fact lots of land all over Australia is earmarked and already underway. Apparantly Europe is also on their radar but I havent fully researched it yet, they've probly already started there ...

another Gippsland grown vegan?? wow. I lived right near the biggest dairy in the southern hemisphere and most of my school mates dads did stuff like making sausages from their livestock as hobbies.. I didn't hear of the existence of veganism till about 2006

Yep, from west thru to east. The penny dropped for me whilst living in Maffra and working at a gasplant full of rednecks who liked to shoot anything they could in their sparetime.... quite awkward. Even better, during CADS protests recognising shooters who I worked with at one stage... no wonder I didnt get along with them..
As you know areas throughout gippsland are quite beautiful, its a shame a large part of it has such an established farming culture.

I watched "One Day" last night. Totally loved the book and probably because I enjoyed the book so much, the movie was good, few tears towards the end.

Latest Harry Potter film, deathly hallows part2.

Love fantasy movies, this was good. The goblins cracked me up, even my housemate who is normally a staunch opponent to fantasy films liked it.

Got stuck into a load of movies on the plane.

Was recommended to me on VFW by other closet birders, pretty cheesy Hollywood movie.



I have a ridiculous crush on Keira Knightley and she does always seem to be in these kind of movies. Very interesting but equally disturbing. Wonder how factually it is.


Very well put together movie I really laughed in certain parts and then few tears at the sad bits. The plane landed when he went into surgery but I have a sneaky suspicion I know how it ended.

It was cheesy but also cute. I also watched it flying back from Cape Town. However, this movie that I also watched during my flight back from VFW was very good IMO, I am going to recommend it to my students in Economic geography:
