Last night I watched The Hide, it's the best film Ive seen in ages. The script is really witty wth some very funny lines but there's an ege of suspense all th way through. Looks stunning too. Very, very good film

'Knowing'. It's apocolyptical/science fiction, I loved it. Some people will find it too far fetched and unbelievable, but if you're prepared to suspend belief, great film.

Anyone here seen "The Road" (2009)? It's set in a bleak, post-apocalyptic environment where a man and his son struggle to survive among people who turned into cannibals as there's absolutely no animals or plant life left. I almost died watching this movie. The realism, the misery, the despair.

I read the book, which is actually a little bit darker (there are a few things left unsaid that were pretty horrifying because there isn't a lot of doubt as to what happened). I liked the movie fairly well, but prefered the book.

Still, I would say if you like the whole "would I survive the end of the world?" kind of scenario, this is your movie. It would take a great deal of determination to want to survive given those kind of odds.

I really used to think surviving something like this would be cool until I was provided a more realistic vision of what it would look like. I have to kind of wonder if it wouldn't just be better to just take some nice, easy way out (which generally isn't my nature; but having to fight that hard just to stay alive would suck pretty hard).

Yeh I saw this, really sad story and really quite believable which made it even more grim :(
I didn't trust the family at the end either, left me with the feeling that they we're going to eat the boy :?
Worth a watch though :)

I've seen two animated movies recently that I strongly recommend: Persepolis and Waltz with Bashir.

Quite captivating, give you a bit of a history lesson and made me feel very grateful for living in a

democracy that's not at war.

I just saw "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo". I never read the book, but standing on its own, the movie was fantastic.

Me too. Excellent film, plus Noomi Rapace is pretty jacked.

Watched The White Ribbon again last week - still don't know what the fuck's going on! Amazing film though.

Just saw the new Doors documentary called, "When You're Strange." It was great seeing the new footage but a lot of the old stuff was thrown in again but it was still nice to see.

I have to warn everyone about a scene in the movie that's disturbing and yes it involves an animal. It's part of the new footage I believe:

Jim Morrison is driving down a desert road and passes a couple on the shoulder who are trying to offer aid to a coyote who was struck by a car. Jim puts his car in reverse and drives back, walks out of his car with a towel and lays it over the coyote's head because the poor guy is breathing really hard due to the heat and the accident. It's not pretty but Jim is the man for stopping and offering some compassion.

You were warned.

I really liked Persopolis. I bought Waltz with Bashir, but haven't had a chance to watch it yet!

Yeah, watched it last week with my lady.. Haven't read the book but the movie was awesome in it's awful despair and coldness. There was a few scenes where we couldn't almost watch it  the tension was too much to bear.

Very nicely done and shot. Highly recommend it to people who like post-apocalyptic stuff.

I would probably stay away from "Shogun Assassin" unless you really like bad movies (it provided 103 minutes of MST3k-esque ripping for us, but whew, what a bad 'un).

I'm going to actually watch "Ninja Assassin" here in the near future... anyone seen it?

ADD: Sorry! It was "Shogun's Ninja", not Shogun Assassin!
