old skool heavy metal fans?

Postby JP » Thu Apr 10, 2008 8:30 am

ok, own up, did you ever have a cap with "NOT" or Athrax written on it?

Did you get an old jeans jacket, cut out the sleeves and write band names on it?

I am gutted there are no photos of my artwork. It had an awesome copy of "SUICIDAL TENDENCIES" logo, and "KREATOR" written on the bottom of the back. Pure Class.

Those coupled with skintight black jeans and massive white basket ball shoes and long waving mosh hair i was ready to take the pit.

he he, those were the days. I'm happy though to have left all that behind me where it belongs, buried in my memories of the 80'ies

Well it wasn't a jeans jacket, rather a world war 1 Australian army jacket with the sleeves ripped out. It had a Metallica* patch on the back, and below that I'd written the Iron Maiden logo in black texta, and hammered pointy metal studs into the shoulders of it. Thought I looked so cool!

I'm glad I don't have it any more, it was made of wool anyway.

Blue denim jacket that got old and frayed. Cut the sleeves off eventually and wore it until it was practically dust with buttons. Never got as far as writing the band names, but I did have enormous hair and got compared to Robert Plant once :) .

The enormous hair got shaken to Motorhead, AC/DC, Sabbath, Dio, Led Zep, Sepultura, Pantera, The Cult and stuff, and they don't make metal these days like they did. Short hair and tracksuits ain't Rok N Roll. :(

I had got a military jackets covered witch patches (Iron Maiden, Saxon, Venom, Morgoth) but it mysteriously disappears after a gig. Fortunately, I always have my black jean jacket with morbid angel patch and soon "meat is murder" patch when I find time to sew it. (before the veggie pride I hope)

We're showing our age here, I think....
Yep, army surplus bag with numerous band logos all over it. Plus of course pencil cases through many years of school. Ha! I even wrote Stryper on there cos I liked their logo. Never heard their music till years later.
My lame high school hair was a massive shoulder length undercut. Oh dear, specially as my hair is a massive whitey fro....
Anyway, I still dig lots of old school metal - going to see Iron Maiden in July at Twickenham; a life long dream come true!

heh.

I still wear a sleeveless jean jacket with patches on top of my napalm death hoodie to work. And bandannas too, often. The hair is still long, albeit tied back usually.

I sound like a softy compared to you blokes! I was into Maiden, Ozzy, Dio, Hawkwind,

Mum made me take back my Ozzy shirt because he was wearing a crown of thorns in the picture. He wasn't even nailed to the cross, goddamnit!
