Not according to the list on http://www.hedweb.com/campaig/ingred.htm as it contains leucine in the amino acid combo. It's processed on equipment that also processes milk.

i dont think it makes it non-vegan if it has been processed using the same equipment than dairy products - because if you would follow that rule, then you would need to say goodbye to a lot of "vegan" products, chocolates mostly ;)

Or are there something else non vegan about them? Or is that leucine animal based one? It can be derived from vegetable sources as well i believe.

Probably better just emailing the company! More questions like that they get, more likely they are to make their products vegan in the future when they realise there is a market out there.

The stuff Clif makes is vegan - it's made of brown rice syrup, not bad stuff.

guess it's mainly for cyclist and long distanse swimmers.. but just to know :)

i was shoping today and found a carbonhydrate gel. i dont know if you can get it in the us (i am from austria europe) - isostar acti food, should be vegan but doesn´t contain aminos potassium and magnesium... i also wrote to powerbar if the aminos they use are made out of nonmeat sources, but they did not reply yet... if they do, i'll let you know.

but anyway, what do you all eat before a competition (5 - 10 k)?

Porridge!!! Normally I digest food very fast but on a race day I allow about three hours between eating and running. In the last 30 minutes before the race I might have some carbohydrate drink or a bit of chocolate.
If it's 10k or less I won't have anything during the race, for a half-marathon I use some sort of energy gel to keep me going.
