barefoot running

Postby soniczip » Tue May 27, 2014 3:14 pm

hi fellow runners

i've been thinking about barefoot running for some time now and i started barefoot walking at home to strengthen my feet tendons and muscles.

is anybody training/competing barefoot? what distances? why are you doing it?

what do you use? fivefingers … sandals … ?

cheers

i bought a pair of vibram fivefingers (model: http://www.vibramfivefingers.com/produc ... R-Mens.htm) and i must say it's all going well so far. i'm progressively increasing the distance (2, 4, 6 at the moment, 8 tonight, …) and i don't feel any discomfort not even when i run on rugged roads. the feeling is quite different from "normal" shoe running. i had to adapt my stride a bit and felt my calfs a bit stiff only after the first run. no bad feelings at all at the base of my feet, on the contrary…
i guess using five fingers is not really barefoot running, but it's getting close to it. the experience of walking barefoot at home is welcome. my feed tendons are getting stronger and stronger. it's not something italians are used to, unlike other people.
