New runner and the plant based diet

I have decided to start training for a 5K for spring then a half marathon for fall. I'm a new runner. I started a plant based diet in May and this will be a lifetime diet for me I feel so good. I know not all vegans eat this way so it's hard getting advice, but I thought I'd see. I'm not an athlete, but I'm at my optimum weight and my fat% is 16.4. What can I do to ensure I don't lose much weight or go much lower in my fat%? I want to stay healthy on this journey and I want it to be successful.

Hello & Welcome to HappyCow! :)
Please post an introduction in the "New Member Introductions" section so that we can get to know and welcome you. Also, what "way" are you referring to here: "I know not all vegans eat this way"?

Ok, I posted my intro. I follow a plant based diet with no added oils, little processed foods like Forks over Knives. I follow mostly John McDougall.

Pay attention to total calories and when you eat.

Do you drink any smoothies? Do you use any flax/chia/ hemp or soy supplements?

A good way to maintain optimum weight is to replace/replenish as soona s you finish a workout- run with an easily absorbed meal and smoothies serve this job well. Make sure it has 55-65% carbs ( fruit or veggies) and the rest protein and most have natural fats.

Mke sure you are getting enough necessary fats.

Sweet potatoes/potatoes/turnips/beets and also beans are powerhouses for runners.
