Thanks for the well wishes, soniczip!

Revolt - I think ultra running is still new enough that it's almost always a shot in the dark. And the trail races that run through the mountains...I can't even imagine how that works unless you live and train in the mountains. I guess I would just try to go into the race with no or low performance expectations. I'm not one to ease into something, so I'll probably jump in like you are.

As far as my mileage/prep goes, I'll probably follow a similar schedule to what I did for the last several marathons. Below is a link to my training log from Boston 2010 - I ran 2:41 for that race. ... c&hl=en_US

For the most part, the mileage will be the same, but the build-up will start closer to the race. I peaked about a month early for this race. A typical week is intervals on Tuesday, tempo on Thursday, long run on Sunday, and recovery pace miles for all the rest.

I need a remedy of diesel and dust, something I can taste with a fix I can trust.

Good work everyone .. I'm late to this thread but I hope everyone's training (& races!) are going well - some great races in there & I'm jealous of all the different races have in different parts of the world :).

I've had 12 months without any events - so now its time to fix that

Sep - Getting married (that's an event of sorts :))
Nov - Luton Marathon
Jan - Country2Capital 45
Feb - Thames Trot 50 & London Ultra 30
March - Grantham 30 x 2 (new A race)

***edit - damn, scratch the full race, I can still do the ones above but found out something today which means I can't do my main race next year***
