Who is training for a fall marathon...and which one(s)?
Have you started your program yet? Do you have a program?
Goal times?
Post-injury, I had my first workout last night and all went pretty well considering. Can't wait to get back to expected fitness and start getting faster. The original plan was to run Chicago in October, but it now all depends on how I respond to training again after the hiatus. We might extend the marathon plan a month later if not ready by Chicago.
Good luck to everybody starting out!

I took the plunge and signed up for the California International Marathon. Doing online training with Greg McMillan. I just started running again after a long layoff, so the goal right now is to just finish.

The only problem is that it's probably not an Olympic Trials Qualifier certified course....due to its net gain.

wow it would be truly odd to have a downhill course to be an olympic qualifier, but then again what do I know about running

Wow...you're right, says it right there on the front page. That really surprises me they allow that, but whatever. As a matter of personal integrity though, I would prefer to run a flat course...looks fun though!!

Understandable runrevolt. My husband wanted me to pick a marathon that we could turn into a fun vacation afterward. Since I didn't get into NY, CIM was the second choice. We're going to hit San Francisco after the marathon. I'm definitely not complaining about the downhill course for my first marathon though.

I'm going to be running the Abingdon Marathon (in the UK) in October. It'll be my first flattish road marathon and has a 5 hour limit so I best try and run all the way this time

veganlisa wrote: Check out this link: http://www.mymarathonpace.com/Elevation_Charts.htmlBoston has more of a net elevation loss than CIM. That surprised me. interesting for sure, perhaps its more due to the few inclines? not 100% how the loss is calculated a year ago i would say id do a marathon in (fall) 2010, but ive realized to get the times I desire I need more work on short course stuff then slowly increase the distance. plus training for swimming + biking means less running workouts, its totally cool tho good luck in training/racing everyone!
