James....what do you mean not doing a marathon?!

That's another one...Convince James to do another marathon. :)

I'm going to concentrate on shorter distances next year, mainly because every time I've done a marathon I've been injured and unable to run properly for 3months afterwards. Hopefully I have plenty more years to do decent marathons in the future.

Good luck to everyone. Would love to see you get that trial time runrevolt.

You know I kid james....actually, I totally understand why you would avoid the marathon. I'm still learning how much of a beast it is and what it does to a training cycle. I'm sure you running those shorter distances will only make you faster and more badass in the long run.

do you need to be top 3/5?? run below 2,19

a combination of the two?

Runner,

To make the Olympic Marathon Trials, you have to run below 2:19 and that's it. Last qualifying years it was 2:22, but they just changed that this time around.

Hah...I didn't mean "and that's it" as in "Easy!". I just meant that there is only the qualifying time, no need to place anywhere.

Blimey! I feel like a real punter posting on this one, but...........

Sub 6min mile

Sub 40min 10k

Have to consider the other distances as I'll be out of England & in Australia & don't know how/if I'll be able to cope with the heat, I got so close to the same targets this year, but slacked off. Few days left of 2009 so could be reposting.

Good luck All!!!!!!!!!
Just smile x

goals:

- increase speed by incorporating more HIIT sessions in the gym
- build up endurance by going on longer runs (explore more trails)
- run in at least 2 races next semester in the greater Norfolk area (preferably 5-10 mile distances)
- not to make running a chore... enjoy every minute of it :D
