Running Goals 2010

Postby erske » Tue Dec 01, 2009 6:24 pm

Thought we should have one of these threads as well..

I'll start:

PB on half marathon
PB on 30k (Lidingöloppet, terrain)
Having more speed work in my training than before

I feel this is realistic for me without puffing to much on the cracpipe.. (Since my PBs is not that fast and my speed work have been more or less non existent 'till now..)
Something irrelevant about cavemen

Hmmm, lets think.....

Get 1 mile time closer to 5 mins (or even sub-5, but that could be crackpipe territory)
Set 5K PB by March
Set 10K PB by April/May
Complete the Snowdon Race in a decent time.

Generally I want to spend a few more months working on speed and then try and translate that into some faster times over 5-10K.

shave 30 minutes off my most recent marathon time,..which isnt as drastic as it sounds cos my last marathon was far too on the slow side for my liking.
Get my 10k race time down to 45 minutes and under.
Re-set my half marathon PB,..the last half marathon i raced was in 2005 :)
generally get out and racing more often.Oh and do a few 10 mile and 15mile type race distances.

Train consistently and stay injury free. Add core work and stretching to my training regime.

3k - sub 9.10
5k - sub 15.40
10k - sub 32.30
half marathon - sub 70
marathon - not going to do one!

10k - 43:30
10 mile - 70
HM - 1:30
78 Speed training sessions in the year.
Feel comfortable doing weekly long runds at 14-17 miles and know I'm capable of doing another marathon if the plans take me.
Get happy with 7 min miling in all conditions.
Maybe take on another marathon in Autumn.

Booooo!
You've got so much ability at that distance.
Maybe 2011?
You can see my training log if you're really bored: www.veganfitness.net/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=16086&start=360

Get back to adding some speed after a couple of years of long slow distance - that said I'm still looking to do longer stuff.

10k - sub 39
1/2 - sub 1:28
full - sub 3
40m - 5:30
45m - 6:15

Roll on the new year!

Build up a running foundation without getting injured (not off to a good start regarding the injuries).

Train for a marathon and hopefully complete one late fall/early winter.

I love this thread.

5k - Sub 15:00
10k - Sub 31:00
1/2 Marathon - Sub 1:07
Marathon - Sub 2:19 (Olympic Marathon Trials Qualifier)

James....what do you mean not doing a marathon?!

That's another one...Convince James to do another marathon. :)

Good luck to everybody in 2010 (the year of the vegan power!)

Still building basic fitness so my objectives are not that high.

10K - Sub 1h or at least near 1h
Marathon/2 - Just to be able to run it trough

Get better running shoes, find someone to check my running technique and of course train more.

sub 37 10k in triathlon
sub 36 10k just running

sub 1:25 1/2 marathon in triathlon
sub 1:16 just running

do a marathon, and do it under 2:50

id say all those are reasonable

plant strong!

Keep running consistently. I've run 3-4 times a week through 2009 and lost 25 lbs so far. I could stand to lose about 5-6 more lbs. I might try a 5k or two in 2010.

I'm going to concentrate on shorter distances next year, mainly because every time I've done a marathon I've been injured and unable to run properly for 3months afterwards. Hopefully I have plenty more years to do decent marathons in the future.

Good luck to everyone. Would love to see you get that trial time runrevolt.

1. Do a sub 4 hour marathon
2. Complete an ultra

That's it for running goals
Others:
Complete an ironman in 13hrs
Whether you think you can or you think you can't - you're right.
