Is there a 1 mile race tradition in your country?

here in Spain many 1 mile races are organised all in sept/ oct / nov

some small others bigger.

guess best race is Milla de Vallecas (Madrid).

Unfortunately not. It's a shame really, I'd definitely like to have a crack at some mile races. There seem to be loads of 5Ks starting up though, which is a good thing.

a 1 mile race would be a really great way to practice for bigger races too, sounds like a good idea to me :)

We don't have one mile races in our country :)
Mostly all races is 5-10k.
But in national championships runners do 1,5k :) It's almost one mile

Which country are you talking about?

Do you run 1500mtr yourself?

The mile races I was talking about are on street circuits, on track we usually run 1500.

We have these in UK now:

5K rather than 1 mile, but I think they're a really good idea.

I am talking about Lithuania :) A small country in Europe ;)
We don't have one mile runnings, but we had maybe 50 years ago. Our national mile record is 50 years old and it's 4.04 :) Pretty good :)
I ran 1500meters when I was at school (9th grade). My result wasn't good enough. 4.37 :)
