Just a little bit ago I finished a fairly intense aerobic workout. When I went into the bathroom to change out of my sweaty clothes, I noticed my face was red. Bright red all over my cheeks.
Is this a sign of overexertion?

don't worry, that's just a sign of that you have been working out properly. redness in the face is very individual, some people get red and some don't.

Should the Fonz ever need to exercise he would be unlikely to go red.
The rest of us are not so lucky. It's hard to max the envelope and still look cool

It's true, some people get flushed (I know I do!). The best way to find out if you are over-exerting is to wear a heart rate monitor (the wireless chest strap kind) that continuously measures your heart rate. A good brand out there is Bios Fitness, you can also try Timex (I find Polars overpriced but that's just my opinion). You should train at a certain % zone of your heart rate. The heart rate monitors have "zone alarms" that will beep when you are over-working (or working out of your set zone, and you can set it yourself).
