Can a tennis ball be used as a foam roller?

Postby vogiama » Fri Oct 28, 2016 8:50 pm

Hello. My hamstrings are sore and tight (for quite some time now), but I haven't any access to a foam roller, at the moment. A while ago, I saw a triathlete rolling his body against a small tennis ball. He was a really big guy- and the ball so small. Could it help with the stiffness? Is there anything I must be aware of, before I give it a try? :?:

Also, has anyone used a kitchen rolling pin for massage?

Yes. I have been using a kitchen rolling pin for my stiff achilles. I've found the problem point with it too. I can't remember the YouTube video I got the exercise from at the moment, but maybe I'll post it soon. I don't think there's anything very special about foam rollers. Lots of other things would work. A tennis ball sounds a little hard to control though.

Thank you James. I tried it last night on the hamstrings. I see what you mean by founding the problem point (mine is more on the side than I thought). I guess, I will be doing this for the following evenings, see how it goes... :|
