foam rollers

Postby Darcy » Mon Oct 03, 2011 9:24 am

I use one of these for my IT band and it's amazing and has basically fixed half my injuries.

I'd like to get one for the office... BUT I'd like a smaller and much harder one! Like this: http://www.travelroller.com/ I'm struggling to find one in the UK though... any clues?

I have found these sorts of textured ones: http://physiosupplies.com/acatalog/Rumb ... _30cm.html Any ideas about their use? Can't imagine that would do much good for my IT band/they seem really expensive.

Thanks!

Since using this one when I go back to my old one I don't feel a thing.
was there a time we weren't at war; when we knew what our hearts and hands were for?

Hmmm interesting. But so expensive! Is it worth it!?

Also do the grooves do something?

I have a friend who uses a wine bottle...

Also interesting on that site... other body massage tools: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=70380

Anyone have any experience with this sort of thing or will normal household objects do perfectly fine?

I use a tennis ball to get at knots in my back but have recently started squishing lots of tennis balls trying to get at my foot ;-)

If you want something very portable but also very hard then get a couple of lacrosse balls, and then if you still want something more akin to a foam roller then nip down to your local plumbing supplier and get them to cut you a length of 4" PVC pipe. Not much beats the lacrosse balls though.
“Begin at the beginning,” the King said gravely, “and go on till you come to the end. Then stop.”

Hey, I've just thought I could cut my current one in half somehow and have half at home half at the office for free!

I just got into foam rolling in the last couple of months. At first, I thought it was so odd and that I looked funny doing it. Now, I think it's awesome and while I'm still getting used to it, I think it really does make a difference in my post-workout stretching.
