hip pain

Postby MikayP » Mon Dec 06, 2010 6:21 am

one day a few months back my hip joint started hurting during a run. lately it seemed to have come back while running. any suggestions on how to perhaps get rid of this issue? would perhaps more anti-inflammatory foods decrease the problem?

Pain in hip is chiefly due to some problem associated with your Lumbar region.
Main causes are,

1.Degeneration or possibility of herniation of disc.
2.Pain due to strained ligaments around hip joint
3.Inflammation of small joints around hip.

Can you specify the nature of pain, aggravating factors, any previous history, nature of your job. so it is going to easier to find out the exact reason behind you pain.

I didn't got the term more anti inflammatory foods?

Hip pain can come from many different things. Probably the most common cause in triathletes is ITB related; ITB pain doesnt necessarily have to come in your knee. That will not be a deep pain though. It's pretty much impossible to make a diagnosis here (err, well, not that _I_ could make a diagnosis in person either :P ). Do you any stretching on your hip flexors and glutes? If not, it is well worth doing, along with using a foam roller on your ITB. You do have a foam roller don't you?? :) They are cheap and well worth it.

Anti inflammatory foods never hurt. Try bromelain (a pineapple enzyme concentrate) and cumin capsules 1-2x per day and add ginger to your smoothies. I've taken these through many sprains and had pretty fast recoveries.
