stronger quads

Postby ZIZI » Tue Jun 05, 2007 9:59 am

I have been told to strengthen my quads, in my running I keep getting niggles in one knee, and the oppisite thigh/groin area, nothing major, had osteo work on them, all i.s well for a bit then out of the blue the niggles return even when I ease off the training. I use the gym, not much on the weights side though, is it the leg presses i need, I dont want to bulk up , just get more power in my upper legs. THANKS,

anyone have any answers to this one?

Leg press
narrow stance squats
front squats
leg extensions
lunges

they should all work your quads. Picc a couple of them and start from there?

I guess as a runner you want to keep the reps high, maybe 15-20?

thanks , that helps me, never had any problems with my knees before, I am assuming its to do with an increase in my training.

Has your osteo explained what the problem is? I mean, why the problem is only in one knee and opposite groin? And is it all your quads that you need to strengthen, sometimes it is only vastus medialis that is weak and needs strengthening for knee problems?
