.. is it the same thing as linseed? I believe it is, but can anyone confirm?
.. and does it really need to be ground? I eat about a dessertspoon each morning on my (homemade) muesli, but a friend does grind hers. Do I need to invest in a coffee grinder?

Hi Brenda,
yes you do need to grind, soak overnight or sprout. I suppose it's possible you could chew & chew & chew until you'd ground most of them up in your mouth, but that's one hell of a lot of chewing
