Even though I have peanut butter and chocolate chip cookies waiting for me in the kitchen, I now find myself wanting cake to go with them.

Two words I never thought I would ever hear together, is it an oxymoron?

Back onto 3 shakes a day for the next month until "the comp", no point being in the u105kg class if I am under 100kg bodyweight.
Just made my first shake at work and got "the look" at the water cooler, sensed I was going to get the bodybuilder question.

Raw doesnt have to be low calorie salads etc, most of the raw treaty/sweet/cake type stuff is probably more dense in calories than its equivelent "normal " cakes as they can be rather reliant on calorie dense nuts and seeds. Dates also pack a decent amount of calories. This one wasnt very nut or seed dense but with the size of slices and depth of the cake i assume its at least 300 calories a slice more likely 400-450.

Just made some delicious kibbeh with TVP and ate it with brown rice and lentils, some ice cream and a local food made of crushed toasted peanuts with sugar and salt for desert

This sounds really tasty, do you have a recipe or pictures?

The kibbeh goes like this:

2 cups of dry TVP
1 ½ cups dry bulgur wheat/kibbeh wheat
2 tbsp of syrian pepper*
1 teaspoon black pepper
2 cups of spearmint leaves
3 cups raw chopped onions
3 cups of fried chopped onions
2 tbsp of salt(I use only 1, add salt slowly and taste it so you don't screw it up)
½ cup of olive oil

Hydrate TVP and the wheat in separate bowls with warm water and set aside
Chop the speatmint leaves
Mix everything in a big bowl.
Put it on a sheet pan, evening it out and leaving it about 2-3cm tall.
You can also add a layer of chopped tomatoes in the middle.
Add some extra olive oil on top and bake for ~50min at medium temperature, untill the surface is darker and more solid.

If you cut it right away it might break apart, but if you let it cool for a short period of time it will be pretty solid.

When serving add some more olive oil, squeeze a lemon... Goes nicely with rice or bread, and some leaf and tomato salad.

Really great bulking meal, lots of awesome carbs, proteins and good fats.

This will make a really damn large amount of kibbeh, feel free to share it with friends and family, they won't even realize it's vegan.

And after you make rice and lentils, just fry some thin sliced onions in olive oil untill they are black and throw them on top, tastes delicious.

That sounds great! :) Is it a common dish in Brasil?

Definitely going to try out your recipe soon. I actually slammed back seasoned and sauteed black-eyed peas, TVP, tomatos, peppers, and onions with whole wheat pita for breakfast this morning - TVP for the win!

Yeah, it got over here with the middle-eastern immigrants, and you can find the regular(beef) version in any caffeteria, deli. I like the baked version because it's easier to make, but the fried one tastes awesome.

Try frying the tvp with onions, garlic, bell peppers and then adding a bit of tomato sauce, just so it becomes a paste. Then put it in some french bread with watercress and mustard. BULK

I make this all the time (minus the watercress, though) - it's fast, easy, and tasty. TVP does not get enough love.

I'm making a shepherd's pie with it tonight - TVP, lentils, pepper, onion, celery, carrots, spinach, spices, topped with mashed sweet potatoes. Time to get big.

Looks tasty! :D

Have you used TVP to make a vegan ceviche? It is pretty similar to your recipe (no bulghur wheat, different spices) and very yum!
